The Georgia Wildland-fire Simulation Experiment (G-WISE) is an intensive laboratory campaign led by Rawad Saleh (University of Georgia) and Joe O'Brien (Athens Prescribed Fire Science Laboratory). G-WISE aims to link smoke emission rates and properties to fire dynamics. Experiments involved burning reconstructed forest floors and surface fuels using biomass collected from three ecoregions in Georgia: Coastal Plain, Blue Ridge, and Piedmont. Burns were performed under relatively moist conditions (typical for prescribed fires) and dry conditions (typical for drought-induced wildfires).

Financial support was in part provided by NSF Atmospheric Chemistry program (AGS-2144062).
